The year is 2022 in Colorado and Summer is quickly hurtling towards us! Here in Colorado, we have copious amounts of tourist destinations, natural wonders, and exciting urban attractions. Since we are experts in the state of Colorado and all that our great home has to offer, at the Brandon and Lana Team we are well equipped to recommend five must-sees and must-dos for your 2022 Colorado Summer!
5. Water World Colorado – Federal Heights, CO
Despite our snowy winters, Colorado summers are made up of many scorching hot days! However, sometimes sweltering heat is a good thing, especially when you live in a state that hosts one of America’s best water parks. Opened in 1979, Water World has since grown its original two water slides to a massive water park attraction with two wave pools, two dark rides with animatronics, and dozens of water slides! For the Summer 2022 season tickets are $27.99 for guests 47” and under and $32.99 for guests 48” and above. A family ticket package is also available for $42.99/person and includes a meal at the park! Water World is located in Federal Heights, just between the great northern Denver cities, Westminster and Thornton. This is a great area to live in with fantastic access to city-life, the Rocky Mountains, and exciting attractions like Water World!
4. 16th Street Mall – Denver, CO
Our next location is just a hop-skip away from our first, and it’s the famous 16th Street Mall located in the center of downtown Denver! The outdoor mall, which spans 1.25 miles, was opened in 1982 and has since welcomed millions of visitors every year. Coloradans and tourists come to 16th Street Mall for its beautiful urban architecture, exciting restaurants and shopping, and its engaging street performances! During the summer months, 16th Street Mall hosts several outdoor events for the whole family such as the Arts and Crafts Fair and the Chalk Festival! Relativity to the excitement of downtown Denver is just one of the perks to homeownership in the Denver area!
3. Mount Evans – Clear Creek County, CO
Welcome to the highest peak in the Front Range, the Rocky Mountains’ very own, Mount Evans! This peak is iconic as one of the characteristic skyline peaks of the Front Range, able to be viewed at distances of over 100 miles! Mount Evans towers at a height of 14,271 feet which you can reach by traveling by car on the Mount Evans Scenic Byway. Along the byway you will come across Lake Echo and the Echo Lake Lodge which houses a restaurant and gift shop! Mount Evans is only open between Memorial Day and Labor Day so make sure to visit the summit before summer is over! And while real estate is sparse on the actual mountain, nearby cities of Conifer, Morrison, and Idaho Springs all have beautiful properties that would make a great home for every outdoors enthusiast!
2. Red Rocks – Morrison, CO
Just ten miles from Denver, Red Rocks Amphitheater is a huge Colorado attraction and tourist destination! Since opening in 1941, Red Rocks has brought many notable performances to its stage including The Beatles in 1964 (in which the cost of a ticket was only $6.60). Red Rocks offers more than just live music. Red Rocks hosts a monthly “Yoga on the Rocks” where hundreds of yogis lay out their mats on the seating platforms for a session of instructed yoga! There are also several hiking trails that wind around the beautiful rock formations, most popular among which is the Trading Post Trail! The Colorado Music Hall of Fame and the Red Rocks Grill are within the amphitheater complex as well. The nearby Morrison downtown also accommodates several restaurants and shops! The Summer 2022 season of performances will include Stevie Nicks, The Goo Goo Dolls, Halsey, Phoebe Bridgers, Father John Misty, Third Eye Blind, and many more! Just check out the Red Rocks official website to see if your favorite band will serenade the rocks this year! Morrison, Colorado is a fantastic place to purchase real estate. Many beautiful historic homes as well as new developments are available on the market all year round!
1. Denver Zoo – Denver, CO
As the most popular paid attraction in the Denver metropolitan area, you can take it from the locals, Denver Zoo is an enriching experience for people of all ages! The Denver Zoo was started in 1896 when an orphaned black bear cub named Billy Bryan (originally gifted to the sitting mayor of Denver at the time, Thomas S. McMurry) was given to the keeper of City Park, Alexander J. Graham. Graham then started the zoo by constructing a naturalistic enclosure for Billy the bear called Bear Mountain. The construction of this enclosure marked the first of its kind in America, and began a trend for naturalistic enclosures rather than simple metal bar cages. Today, Denver Zoo hosts primates, big cats, sea-life, birds, elephants, and many more exotic creatures that are cared for by excellent Coloradan zookeepers. Denver Zoo has many options for food and drink as well as indoor enclosures that allow reprieve from the summer heat. The zoo is in a constant state of improvement and will be unveiling improved habitats for their Brazilian penguins and flamingos this summer of 2022! Be sure to catch their new residents, Pecan and Walnut, white raccoon sisters that were rescued from a residential home in Boulder! They just turned one year old this Spring! How cute! Don’t forget to check out Denver real estate while you’re at it. The market in Denver is thriving and a highly coveted area for Colorado home ownership!
