The last two years have had ups and downs for all of us! From the pandemic to the rising housing prices, we have all had to face difficult and stressful times, especially as home-buyers or home-sellers. It is significant and personal life changes like these that often lead us to relocate our homes. In the U.S many Americans have relocated in the past two years to enjoy warmer climates, pay lower housing costs, and obtain more living space than their previous location! This leads us to the question...
Â
Where Are People Moving to?
Â
The U.S. Census reported that in 2021 Americans moved at an increase of 18.37% to Utah, making the state the number one destination for implants during and after the pandemic! Utah, with its warm winters and sweltering summers, is a great state for residents who are looking for higher climates to settle in or who enjoy the activities that a warm climate allows for. In third place, Texas, with a population increase of 15.91%, is another warm location that Americans have found refuge in during the past few years.
Â
Other warm climate states that showed up on the Census’ top ten list were Nevada, Florida, Arizona, and South Carolina. Lower housing costs are a HUGE benefit that home buyers from out-of-state are looking for when relocating! Notorious for its low housing costs, Idaho has seen a 17.32% increase in population from out-of-state relocation in 2021. Runner-up states including Texas, North Dakota, Washington, and Colorado are all quite low-cost when compared to America’s most expensive cities!
Â
With the new frontier of the workforce, more Americans are working from home than ever before! Because of this, out-of-state home-buyers are looking for more space in their homes. Starting families and spending more time within the home, people are looking for more space for the same price that they may have been paying prior to their move. States like Utah, Texas, North Dakota, and Nevada have many space out residential properties and single-family homes available rather than apartment-style living.
