Summer continues to rage here in Colorado and our Coloradan residents have a full season of fun festivals lined up for our beautiful home state. From theater, to cuisine, to cultural celebrations, there will be something to do for all kinds of people and families this summer!
2022 Summer Festivals in Colorado
Colorado has an eclectic and growing dramatic arts scene! Colorado’s Shakespeare festival is ongoing until August 7th at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Colorado Shakespeare Festival has had more than sixty seasons and takes place outside under the stars. The 2022 season will be performing “Two Gentleman of Verona,” “All’s Well That Ends Well,” “The Book of Will,” “Coriolanus,” and “The Alchemist.” Make sure to take trip over to Boulder to witness Colorado’s very own thespian work!
In addition to the Shakespeare festival, Colorado also hosts the popular event, Central City Opera Festival! This operatic festival takes place from July 2-31 at the Central City Opera House, Central City. This festival is a four-week long festival of musical storytelling and booming voices. Some of the best talents of classical opera perform for our Rocky Mountain audiences. 2022 marks the festival’s 90th season and will host performances of “Die Fiedermaus,” “The Light in the Piazza,” and “Two Remain.”
Between zany Shakespeare performances and touching operatic experiences, we need to throw some food and drink in the mix to hold us over! Blues & Barbeque Festival in Citizens Park, Edgewater on July 16 and is a full day of blues music and delicious BBQ cuisine. The Big Eat, another dining festival, will take place in the Denver Performing Arts Complex on July 28. The Big Eat is a one-night event to showcase Denver’s vibrant dining scene. More than 60 food and beverage vendors offer small bites and sips at this great festival!
Because Denver is home to nearly 2 million people of all different cultures and heritage, we are so excited to attend the following cultural events this summer! The Mile High Global Bazaar is going to take place in Skyline Park, Denver from July 16-17. The Mile High Global Bazaar is a three-day annual celebration of international arts, cultures, food, and music. There will be exhibitors from around the world with representation from many cultures and countries. Additionally, Colorado Dragon Boat Festival is a celebration of Asian heritage and will take place in Cheesman Park from July 23-24! Colorado’s Dragon Boat Festival is the biggest dragon boat festival in the United States!
